# Install SpringBrand in WorkBuddy

Install SpringBrand in WorkBuddy with a key, OAuth, or the client Plugin.

## Watch the WorkBuddy walkthrough

See the installation in WorkBuddy. Follow the current setup steps below.

[How to Install the SpringBrand Plugin in WorkBuddy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpTUKhIRnqI)

## 1. Install with a key (recommended)

Choose one option to install SpringBrand CLI for WorkBuddy: send the prompt in your Agent chat, or run the command yourself.

### Option A: Agent chat

Paste this prompt into WorkBuddy. If asked for a key, open [Account Settings → MCP API Keys](https://rapp.springbrand.ai/account-settings?section=mcp-api-keys) and click **View installation key** or **Create key**.

**Copyable · Paste into your Agent chat**

```text
Install or update SpringBrand CLI for WorkBuddy using https://plugin.springbrand.ai/INSTALL.cli.workbuddy.md. Configure only WorkBuddy. If you need an installation key, ask me for it.
```

### Option B: Run the command yourself

Get a key from [Account Settings → MCP API Keys](https://rapp.springbrand.ai/account-settings?section=mcp-api-keys), then replace `{{INSTALL_KEY}}` in this reference command before running it. The command as shown cannot run.

**Reference example · Replace {{INSTALL_KEY}} before running**

```shell
npx -y @springbrand/cli@latest connect workbuddy-ai --url https://connector.springbrand.ai/mcp --api-key {{INSTALL_KEY}}
```

After installation, check the report for a healthy connection and open a new WorkBuddy session if asked.

## 2. If you cannot use a key: OAuth

If you cannot use a key, ask your Agent to follow the OAuth instructions in the installation guide. You can also run the command below yourself after clearing any saved key and `SPRINGBRAND_API_KEY`, then finish browser sign-in. A saved key can prevent OAuth from starting; see the [production guide](https://plugin.springbrand.ai/INSTALL.md) for how to clear it.

**Manual OAuth command · Clear saved keys first**

```shell
npx -y @springbrand/cli@latest connect workbuddy-ai --url https://connector.springbrand.ai/mcp
```

## 3. If the SpringBrand CLI fails: WorkBuddy native Plugin installed through its CLI

Use the host’s native Plugin path only if the SpringBrand CLI installer cannot run or reports an installation failure. Check for an existing SpringBrand Plugin or MCP entry before adding another.

The production guide verifies this native CLI path for **WorkBuddy Desktop on macOS 5.4.3** with bundled CLI 2.132.0. It uses the pinned v1.2.3 package. The ZIP UI fallback has not been verified; follow the current [WorkBuddy production guide](https://plugin.springbrand.ai/INSTALL.workbuddy.md) for the exact native CLI steps.

1. Inspect existing SpringBrand setup

   Use WorkBuddy’s bundled `codebuddy` executable. Check for existing SpringBrand Marketplace, Plugin, Skill, and MCP entries before changing configuration.

2. Install and enable the pinned package

   Use the native CLI to add `https://plugin.springbrand.ai/releases/v1.2.3/workbuddy/springbrand-workbuddy.zip` as the Marketplace source, then install and enable `springbrand@springbrand` at user scope. Use the production guide’s commands for the executable path on your machine.

3. Approve and reload

   Approve WorkBuddy’s MCP trust prompt, complete native browser OAuth, reload Plugins or restart WorkBuddy, and open a new task.

4. Check the connection

   The WorkBuddy Plugin fallback guide calls for one authenticated read-only capability call after the Plugin connects. Keep this separate from the CLI verification flow, which uses its installation summary and health status.

## Authorize and verify

For CLI setup, check the CLI report. For the Plugin, follow its sign-in and connection checks above. Then open a new WorkBuddy session.
