n8n Pricing

Bottom line

n8n Cloud is billed by workflow execution, not by seat or by step. Starter is 20 EUR a month billed annually for 2,500 executions, Pro is 50 EUR for 10,000 and Business is 667 EUR for 40,000, all with unlimited users; Enterprise is quoted by sales. Self-hosting the Community edition costs nothing in licence fees, but you pay for the servers and maintenance yourself.

n8n plans and prices

n8n publishes one free self-hosted edition and four Cloud tiers. Prices below are the annual-billing figures from n8n.io/pricing, read on 2 September 2026; n8n's own toggle advertises a 17% saving for annual billing, so paying monthly costs more. Every Cloud tier lists unlimited users and unlimited steps, and scales on executions, concurrency and shared projects.

What each n8n plan is for

The tiers differ in execution volume, concurrency and shared projects, not in users. Starter fits one team running a few thousand workflow runs a month. Pro adds capacity and projects for heavier use. Business adds a self-hosted deployment option with a licence key. Enterprise is for custom volume and 200+ concurrent executions. The free Community edition suits teams able to run infrastructure.

Community (self-hosted): free

A standard self-hosted version is published on GitHub under the Sustainable Use License, Version 1.0. It is free for internal business, non-commercial or personal use; you pay for the infrastructure, and enterprise (.ee.) files need a separate licence.

Starter: 20 EUR/mo

2,500 executions with unlimited steps, 5 concurrent executions, one shared project, unlimited users and 2,300 AI credits a month. It can be trialled without a credit card.

Pro: 50 EUR/mo

10,000 executions, 20 concurrent, three shared projects and up to 13,700 AI credits a month, still with unlimited users and a card-free trial.

Business: 667 EUR/mo

40,000 executions, 30 concurrent, six shared projects and a self-hosted deployment option with a licence key. Its trial requires a credit card.

Enterprise: contact sales

Custom execution volume, 200+ concurrent executions and unlimited shared projects and users.

How n8n counts usage, and the hidden costs

n8n counts one execution per complete workflow run, whatever the number of steps, so complexity is free and frequency is what you pay for. Concurrency is a separate ceiling per plan. Going over quota does not stop workflows but may add overage charges, and paid self-hosted features need a licence key that checks in with n8n daily.

One execution is one whole workflow run

n8n's own pricing FAQ answers this directly: an execution is a single run of your entire workflow, and it doesn't matter how many steps are in the workflow or how much data it processes. That is the single most consequential difference from per-action billing, because a twenty-node workflow and a two-node workflow cost the same.

Every plan says unlimited steps

The step count appears in the plan description as a feature, not a limit: each tier reads "workflow executions with unlimited steps". Complexity is free; frequency is not.

Concurrency is a separate ceiling

Executions per month and concurrent executions are two different limits. Starter allows 5 concurrent, Pro 20, Business 30, Enterprise 200 or more.

Users are not metered

Starter, Pro, Business and Enterprise all list unlimited users. What changes between tiers is the number of shared projects: 1, 3, 6, then unlimited.

Going over does not stop your workflows

The FAQ states that if you exceed your quota, workflows continue running without interruption, but overage charges may apply. Budget for the overage rather than for downtime.

Paid self-hosting phones home

To use Business or Enterprise features on your own instance you get a licence key that, in n8n's words, must ping our license server daily to stay active. The free Community edition has no such key.

n8n Cloud vs self-hosted: what you pay

Self-hosting the Community edition removes n8n's licence fee but not the cost of running it: you supply the server, upgrades, backups and on-call. n8n Cloud starts at 20 EUR a month billed annually and meters executions, concurrency and AI credits. Enterprise code and commercial redistribution are the main licence differences between the two routes.

Is n8n worth it? Alternatives to compare

n8n is usually good value when your workflows have many steps, because an execution costs the same whatever the step count, and when several people need access, because users are unlimited. If you need OSI open source, fewer steps per run, or a hosted-only tool your team already uses, compare the alternatives and the per-task model before committing.

n8n pricing FAQ

These answers cover whether n8n is free, what each plan costs per month, how an execution is defined, what happens when you exceed your quota, whether there is a free trial, whether n8n is open source and whether you pay per user. All figures are from n8n's pricing page and licence file, read on 2 September 2026.

Is n8n free?

The self-hosted Community edition is free of licence charges: n8n publishes a standard self-hosted version on GitHub under the Sustainable Use License, Version 1.0, which permits use for your own internal business purposes or for non-commercial or personal use. n8n Cloud is not free — it starts at 20 EUR a month billed annually — though Starter and Pro can be trialled without a credit card. See n8n self-hosted for what running it yourself involves.

How much does n8n cost per month?

As published on 2 September 2026: Starter 20 EUR, Pro 50 EUR and Business 667 EUR per month when billed annually, with Enterprise quoted by sales. Those annual-billing prices carry a 17% saving against monthly billing according to n8n's own toggle, so the monthly-billed figures are higher. Check n8n.io/pricing before budgeting.

What counts as an execution in n8n?

n8n's pricing FAQ defines it as a single run of your entire workflow, and states that it doesn't matter how many steps are in the workflow or how much data it processes. So a workflow with forty nodes costs the same as one with two. This is why the per-plan feature line reads "workflow executions with unlimited steps".

What happens if I exceed my execution quota?

According to n8n's FAQ, workflows continue running without interruption, but overage charges may apply. n8n does not describe a hard stop at the limit for paid plans, which is the opposite of how some competitors handle it — Zapier, for instance, holds new runs until the billing cycle resets unless pay-per-task billing is switched on.

Does n8n have a free trial?

Yes. n8n's pricing page states that a free trial is available for Starter and Pro without a credit card, while the Business plan requires one. The trial is separate from the free self-hosted Community edition, which has no time limit because it is not a trial at all.

Is n8n open source?

Not in the OSI sense. The code is public on GitHub, but the Sustainable Use License, Version 1.0 restricts commercial redistribution: you may not sell the software, charge others for access to it, or sublicense it. n8n uses the term fair-code for this model. Licences that are OSI-approved, such as the MIT and AGPL-3.0 tools listed on n8n alternatives, carry no such restriction.

Do I pay per user on n8n?

No. Starter, Pro, Business and Enterprise all list unlimited users. Seats are not the metered resource; executions, concurrent executions and AI credits are. What scales with the plan is the number of shared projects — 1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, 6 on Business and unlimited on Enterprise.

Sources and evidence

The plan figures on this page come from n8n's own pricing page and its licence file, both read on 2 September 2026. Prices shown are annual-billing figures, because that is how n8n displays them by default; monthly billing costs more. Check the pricing page before you buy, since n8n changes plan limits and AI-credit allowances between releases.
